Calhoun has great year in the classroom

Calhoun Community College stands at the forefront as the largest community college in the Alabama College System. The Calhoun Athletic Department has similar academic accolades. The NJCAA recently announced Individual Academic Team Honors. All four (4) of Calhoun teams were recognized for their Academic Success boasting a team 3.0 GPA or higher for the year. The calculations do not include developmental courses.

Alabama Community College Conference rankings for Calhoun:

Baseball placed third with a 3.04

Men's golf placed second with a 3.06

Softball placed second with a 3.45

Women's golf ranked frist with a 3.20

Sixteen athletes received individual honors. Approximately 25% of the student-athletes were recognized for a 3.50 GPA or higher. The softball team led the state with the 10 players being recognized and claimed top spot for number of softball team players.

The athletic department anticipates an 85% graduation rate at the end of the summer term for all sophomores using two years of eligibility compared to the college two-year rate for fulltime students of 14%.
