PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - It was a milestone day for Chattahoochee Valley Community College head coach Adam Thomas.

He recorded his 599th and 600th career victories Friday as his CVCC Pirates swept a double header against Alabama Southern Community College. All 600 of Thomas' wins have come at CV.

"I've been associated with this program and this institution since 1993," a happy Thomas said after the game. "It's very very special. This C-V right here. This logo, this uniform, this ballpark, to be able to put this suit on everyday, it's pretty special. That'll mean more to me than any arbitrary number that the good Lord lets me have in my career. Yeah man, it's special brother."

Thomas played for C-V in the early 90's and became the head coach in 1999. With his family in attendance, he grabbed his 600th victory.

In game one, the Pirates fell behind in the 3rd on a sac fly, but they weren't down long. In the bottom of the third, Nolan Greckel got the Pirates on the board with a single that scored Brandon Hill.

Then in the 4th, Jaylen Smith put two more across the plate with a high chopper over the third baseman. CVCC added one more in the 5th and three in the 6th. They gave up one run in the final inning, but still took the first game 7 to 2.

In game two, both teams scored a run in the first inning, and from then on it was a pitcher's duel. Chase Adkins pitched a beauty for the Pirates to keep the Eagles off the board the rest of the game.

Then in the 5th, back-to-back home runs gave the Pirates a 4-1 lead. They held on the rest of the way for the win, and what would ultimately be Thomas's 600th.
