GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –  In a game that was three outs away from being over, Hardford fought courageously pushing the number one team to the end, but was not enough as Chattahoochee Valley eliminated the Fighting Owls 14-11 in game 12 of the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series.

This game saw a little over everything including a hard hit ball bounce over the outfield wall to bounce back in for a ground rule double, the hidden ball trick, and an eight run inning by Harford (53-11, 2-2 JUCO).

Chattahoochee Valley (51-11, 2-1 JUCO) built up a 12-2 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.  Due to the run rule, Harford needed to score a run to keep the game for ending.  Catcher Luke Johnson wasn't ready to go home yet as he stepped to the plate and hit a solo shot to left field.  That was followed by a pinch hit solo home run by Cody Dean.  Later in the inning, Johnson would step back up to the plate with the bases loaded and smash a grand slam over the right field wall, cutting the lead down to just two at 12-10.

The Pirates added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning off a Carson Hughes two-RBI single to just over the head of the second baseman.  Harford would score a run in the bottom of the inning but would ground out to end the game and their season 14-11.

Frank Wagner, designated hitter for the Pirates, went 3-5 on the game with a pair of home runs and three RBI.  Hughes was 3-4 with four RBI while give other batters recorded multiple hits.  Harford had three batters with three hits and Luke Johnson with five RBI.
