As Wallace-Dothan prepares for their first appearance in the NJCAA Division I World Series in Grand Junction, CO, Daniel Floyd, a freshman pitcher from Chipley, FL, will be blogging about their experiences.

Day One

We loaded the bus at 1:30 am central time and made a straight shot to the airport in Atlanta, GA. We arrived at the airport around 6:30 am eastern time to make our flight to Charlotte, NC. When we arrived in Charlotte, we had a 2 hour layover until we boarded our next flight. We then flew into Denver, CO to hop on a bus to Grand Junction. We were able to enjoy the scenery of the Rocky Mountains on the way to our hotel. After a long day of traveling, we had a delicious meal at Texas Roadhouse and then settled in at the hotel for the rest of the night.  Talk to you tomorrow.

Day Two

It has been very nice here in Colorado. The weather has been anywhere between 70 and 85 degrees I'd say, so it's perfect baseball weather. This morning, we got to sleep in a little and at 10:30, we headed to our first practice here in Grand Junction. Our practice was rushed since every team is only granted an hour of practice time. Afterwards, we went to the stadium to get our team and individual pictures on the field. We then stopped by the gift shop on the way home to pick up some JUCO World Series merchandise. Stone and Tyler got to go do the MLB Youth Clinic today as we had the 2nd base section fonthe event. Tonight, we had another great meal and went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner. After that, we spent the rest of the night hanging out at the hotel.

Day Three

To begin our third day in Grand Junction, we first had to go to our practice this morning at 8 which required us to get up pretty early. After practice, we went back to the hotel and met up to walk to the Village Inn for a late breakfast. The middle of our day consisted of us doing whatever at the hotel, mostly resting and getting ready for an early ball game tomorrow morning. Tonight, we attended the annual World Series Banquet and ate a delicious meal. Dante Bichette was the guest speaker and had an amazing speech about his juco story. We're looking forward to playing some ball tomorrow!

Day Four

This morning began with us getting up early at around 6 and we then headed to our pregame warmup practice. Afterwords, we made our way to Suplizio Field for our first game of the JUCO World Series to play Cowley College. We didn't play our best game and it resulted in a loss. We're looking to bounce back tomorrow and get on a run. Our game game tomorrow starts at 11:00 central time. After the game, we got some lunch and a lot of us went back up to the field to see what kind of competition we were going to face. For dinner, our host family was gracious enough to prepare us a meal for dinner that was very nice. The Govs are ready for another day of baseball tomorrow.
