Snead Takes Down Bucs

BOAZ – In an epic battle Monday night at Plunkett Wallace Gymnasium, the Snead State men's basketball team took down fourth-ranked Shelton State Community College 92-80.

The Parsons overcame a 17-point deficit with 15 minutes remaining in the game to take a 90-75 lead with 17 seconds remaining. Shelton State had only lost two games all season up until taking on the Parsons.

Snead's DeMarcus Threatt led the charge with 28 points. He had 23 points in the second half alone. Threatt also racked up six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Six Snead State freshmen had big nights as well.

Chad Watkins had a season high game scoring 25 points, catching eight rebounds and having four assists, two blocks and one steal.

Jace Haggermaker also scored a season high 15 points while shooting an almost perfect 6-of-7 from the field and collecting seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals.

Duke Thomas scored six points and had season highs in rebounds and assists. He collected six rebounds and had five assists. Jaylon DeBardlabon finished with a game high 10 rebounds in only 17 minutes of playing time. Des Curry also had his best game as a Parson playing 13 big minutes while scoring a season high seven points and collecting three rebounds.

The win comes just days after Snead State also defeated rival Gadsden State Community College 72-70.

The starting five for the Parsons combined to score all 72 points in the win. Threatt and Thomas each scored 18 points. Watkins had 17 points. Freshman Tee Lomax rounded out the double figure scoring by contributing 11 points. Haggermaker had eight points.

Threatt led the Parsons in rebounding with six and also had three assists, three steals, three blocks and three turnovers. Watkins led the Parsons in steals with five and had five rebounds. Haggermaker led the team with five assists and had five rebounds and had two steals.
