Lawson State Preview

The Lawson State Men's Basketball team is coming off a 26-6 season in 2013-14. The Cougars lost six players that were great contributors to last season's success.  The notables from last season were NJCAA Third Team All-American, ACCC MVP Khalil Davis, First Team ALL-ACCC Gerald Maddox and standout sixth man Corey Ricks all of whom have transition to four-year programs.

Players returning to the 2014-15 addition of the Cougars are Second Team All-ACCC forward Da' Shun Griffin, ACCC Assist Leader Keith Middleton and 20 game starter DeShon Bayless.  

The Cougars have also welcomed several transfers; Joshua Johnson, Isiah Core, and Keiston Standfield, which will all be key contributors this season.  The Cougars have a few freshmen that will lend a hand also, Christopher Taylor, Antonio Daniels, Will Ellington Jr., & Bryant Gray all figure to be solid this season.   

Coach Matthew "Mike" Smith was very ambitious in his scheduling for the 2014-15 season. Coach Smith will enter his second season looking to build on last season's success. The schedule includes four teams that have national tournament experience. Those teams are Georgia Perimeter CC, Chipola CC of Florida, and league opponents Shelton State CC and Wallace-Hanceville CC.  The Cougars are aiming for the top of the ACCC conference at the end of the conference race.
