Gadsden Looking Forward to 2014-15

Meet the sophomore's:

Darius Bush – 6'3 200lb guard; Darius prepped at Etowah High School in Attalla, AL.  He was an aggressive defender who played the top of their 1-3-1 defense.  Darius saw action in many games last year as a freshman.  He should be an instrumental part of the team this year.  He has developed into a really good defender who can put a lot of pressure on opposing defenses with his ability to get to the rim.

Jeremiah Haynes – 6'2 195 lb guard; Jeremiah prepped at Sylvania High School where he played for his father Glenn Haynes.  He is an excellent shooter that the opposing team has to find at all times.  Jeremiah saw limited time as a freshman but will be counted on heavily this year to stretch the opposing team's defense.

Paul Johnson – 6'3 210 lb guard; Paul prepped at Gadsden City High School.  He started a few games as a freshman but injury plagued him through a lot of the season.  He has the ability to be a very vital part of this year's team.  His strength and ability to get to the basket will test the opposing team.  His strength also allows him to guard many different people on the defensive end.

Jacob Gibson – 5'11 170 lb guard; Jacob prepped at Springville High School where he was a three sport athlete.  He has the physical toughness that few people ever develop.  He was the starting pg as a freshman last year.  This year Jacob will be counted on more than ever to provide leadership and consistency.  He is in great shape and will cause the opposing pg fits on the defensive end.

Pat Edmonds – 6'2 190 lb guard; Pat prepped at Minor High School in Birmingham.  Pat is a very good shooter and an extremely hard worker.  He saw time in every game as a freshman.  This year his work in the off-season has already begun to pay off.  He is in the best shape of his life and his shot is now quicker than ever.

Christian Hutchinson – 6'5 205 lb guard; Christian prepped at Talladega High School where he played in the pressing system of Coach Chucky Miller.  Christian is the most athletic player on the team.  He will be an impact player on both ends of the floor.  Offensively he's one of the quickest leapers around and has an extraordinary ability to get to the rim.  On defense, his athleticism allows him to guard smaller quicker people as well as players with size.

Garrett Preston – 6'0 185 lb guard; Garrett prepped at Pleasant Valley High School where he played for his father Ronnie Preston.  Garrett is a natural shooter.  He has developed into a solid defender as well.  He doesn't have a conscience when it comes to shooting the ball (which is the type of shooter coaches love to have).  He is able to shoot on and off the dribble, which makes him very dangerous on the offensive end of the court.

Meet the freshmen:

Chris English – 5'10 175 lb guard; Chris prepped at Weaver High School where he played in a very up-tempo system.  He was a member of the North-South Alabama team as a junior.  He brings great tenacity and quickness to the team.  He is very skilled on defense and is very quick from end to end on offense.

Tevin Wise – 6'3 195 lb guard; Tevin prepped at Gadsden City High School where he played under Coach Reginald Huff.  Tevin is a very strong and physical guard.  Offensively he is skilled in every aspect of the game.  His strength will help him develop into a good defender as well.

Brad Robertson – 6'2 185 lb guard; Brad prepped at Hokes Bluff High School where he was a three sport athlete.   He is a coach's son and learns very quickly.  He is an extremely hard worker and that will give him a chance to see the floor this season. He shoots well and is a very good reader on the defensive side of the ball.

Donnie Timmons – 6'4 200 lb guard; Donnie prepped at Etowah High School where he played in an up-tempo 1-3-1 half-court trapping defensive system.  Donnie can shoot, pass, and handle on the offensive end.  His man-to-man defense will develop as the year progresses and he should become a valuable asset to the team.

Marcelle Jackson – 6'5 200 lb guard; Marcelle prepped at Minor High School under the tutelage of Derrick Williams.  He is a tenacious defender who will state that "defense is his favorite part of the game".  On offense his length and ability to play multiple positions well will cause match-up problems for the opposing team.

Dylan Mackey – 6'5 210 lb guard; Dylan prepped at Sand Rock High School under his father Brian Mackey.  He was a member of the North-South Alabama team as a junior.  He played multiple positions in high school and that will play dividends as this year progresses.  He is comfortable in a lot of different roles which will make him valuable to the team in his two years at GSCC.

Daniel Oliver – 6'6 220 lb forward; Daniel prepped at Lakeview High School in Georgia.  He was the leading scorer and rebounder on his team.  He is a skilled big man who has good post moves and was coached in a "flex" offensive system.  He is a very smart kid so he will catch on to the defensive system very quickly.

Travis Sisk – 5'11 210 lb guard; Travis prepped at Skyline High School under Coach Ronnie McCarver.  Travis is a pure shooter who can really stretch a defense.  He played zone defense most of his career so man-to-man will be pretty new to him.  He is a very smart kid so I would imagine he will catch on quickly to our system.
