Preview: Faulkner State Sun Chiefs

Faulkner State is looking forward to a great year.  The Sun Chiefs are very young, only returning four starters this year; however, they have more depth than they have ever had.  The Sun Chiefs are looking for great leadership behind catcher Rachael Rafferty, left fielder Kaitlyn Blubaugh, first baseman Makayla Reed and shortstop Kirsten Binegar.  As well as, other returners Braiden Gottier, Kaylyn Lary, Cassidy Comstock, Brittani Peacock, and Victoria Adams.

Faulkner State will have a lot of talent in the freshmen class, including pitchers Gabby Kespelher, Allison Pickett, and Taylor Alvers, as well as, infielders Alyssa Singleterry, Merideth Mackin, Emma Dunn, Kaelyn Holt, Katie Lee and Ashton Gautreaux and outfielders Hannah Brown, Whitney Jemison, and Kaylea Cazalas.

Team chemistry is like none Head Coach Mallory Radwitch has seen in her coaching and playing years. "The girls get along great and realize that it is about something bigger than themselves,"  Radwitch states. "I love being around this group of girls, they keep me on my toes every single day.  They strive to be great and I expect big things this year from this team."

The Sun Chiefs have their season opener at home on February 2nd against Mississippi Gulf Coast and then will be participating in the Wallace State tournament in Atmore, AL that weekend.
