LBWCC and Straughn alum Tiffany Taylor looks to carry on her family's coaching legacy as she was hired on Monday to take over at the helm of the LBWCC Lady Saints' softball team.
The daughter of AHS head football coach Trent Taylor and wife, Patty. Tiffany grew up around coaching and quickly caught the fever.
Taylor is a graduate of Straughn High School. She played softball at LBWCC and Huntingdon College.
Taylor will graduate from Huntingdon in December.
"I'm excited about it," LBWCC athletic director Steve Helms said. "First off, we are getting one of our own coming back to us, and that's always good. Second, she comes from a good pedigree of coaches. She has passion for softball and for teaching the girls."
For Taylor, the chance to coach at LBWCC is something she is looking forward to.
"I'm really excited," Taylor said. "I'm a little nervous, but overall I'm excited to come back to LBW and try to make a difference."
Coaching is something that Taylor said comes naturally.
"I've been around coaching all my life," Taylor said. "My dad is a high school football coach, my uncle coached me in softball and my grandfather was a successful coach at the junior college level. To say coaching is in my blood, that's a true statement here."
Taylor said she knew at a early age coaching was something she wanted to do.
"It's something I've always had a passion for," Taylor said. "I knew when I was little that coaching was what I wanted to do. I want to make a difference in their lives like my coaches did for me."
The impact she looks to make goes far beyond just softball.
"I just want to teach them," Taylor said. "Not only about softball, but how to be a better woman. There is a lot about life that you can learn through playing sports. I've seen firsthand the impact my dad has made on players lives, and that is something that I want to accomplish."
