Snead State Claims NJCAA District I Championship

The Snead State softball team combined to score 26 runs over two games to take down Louisburg in the NJCAA District I Championship over the weekend in Spartanburg, SC., and punch their ticket to the national tournament.

The Lady Parsons will travel to St. George, Utah, to play in the NJCAA Tournament May 17-20. The tournament features 16 of the nation's top junior college softball teams.

Snead State is the second ACCC team to make it to Utah this season. They will be joined by ACCC/NJCAA Region 22 champion Wallace State Community College.

Snead State and Louisburg was tied going into the bottom of the seventh inning in game one. The Lady Parsons were able to capitalize on an error by Louisburg and score two runs to take the first game in a best of three series 13-11.

Freshman Madison Burt had five RBIs for the Lady Parsons. She and sophomore Anna Leigh Mitchell both homered. Alexis Bates went 2-for-3 and had three RBIs.

The Lady Parsons took game two in only six innings with a 13-4 final.

Snead State grabbed an early lead in the game, scoring five runs in their first at bat.

Bates and Mitchell both homered. Bates went 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Mitchell went 2-for-4 and had two RBIs.

Freshman outfielder Callie Kay went 3-for-4 for Snead State.

Freshman Rilee White took to the circle for the Lady Parsons, pitching six complete innings, giving up just four hits and striking out two. She went 2-for-3 from the plate.
