Calhoun softball hosts "Pack the Park"

The Calhoun softball program hosted the 10th annual Alumni Game as a part of the "Pack the Park" Event.  The First Annual Fastpitch Alumni Game was held on Saturday. October 27th, 2007 with twelve players and a manager from the 2006 and 2007 seasons.  The tradition of all softball graduates signing the dugout wall began.  Today, the softball alumni has grown to 105 players, managers, and statisticians with a 90% plus graduation rate.

This year's event hosted thirty-nine former members of the Calhoun softball program including four of the original alumni.   There were a mixture of careers represented including teachers, nurses, Redstone Arsenal employees, engineers, respiratory therapist, Polaris employees, pastor, utility worker, biology graduate school student applying for a Physicians Assistant Program, physical therapist, dental hygienist, ESL elementary school teacher, social worker, soon to be physician in her last year of internship, a pharmacist in the making, a stay at home mom, with the most recent alumni pursuing their BS degrees.

The day began with the 2016-17 Calhoun softball team playing an intrasquad game to open the Fall 2018 season.  The alumni participated in a competitive slowpitch game, full of hits, catches, and slides requiring a trip to the ER.  The children were entertained with inflatables and Dr. Osborne, a professional balloonist from Madison, AL.
