A letter to the ACCC family

A letter to the ACCC family

To our ACCC family,

Sports.  They have always been there in times of need and tragedy.  We always had sports to fall back on to take our mind off things, even if only for a few minutes or hours.  Sports were used to unite everyone for one common enjoyment and/or purpose.  Obviously, these difficult times don't allow that escape,  The uncertainty of the past few weeks, and for that matter, the last few days, have caused a lot of frustration, questions, and uncertain future.  With many of these areas, we just don't know the answers.

We don't know what the future holds, and for many, that is unnerving.  For our student-athletes, our greatest asset, this is especially true.  I can only imagine the shock, disappointment, anger, and frustration that comes from learning your seasons, passion, and opportunuties to be with your teammates have been disrupted.  Although we miss sports, our games, practices, team meals, travels, and tic tocs, we have time to reflect on what is important.  In perspective, if missing a few games is the worst thing that happens in our lives, we are going to be just fine.

The decisions made over the past few days, while difficult, were to protect us all.  The same will be true as we navigate these rough waters.  We will all come through these times stronger, tougher, and closer.  We will all work together to make decisions that benefit everyone, but more importantly, our student-athletes.  We will be there for our student-athletes, to comfort, reassure, and provide hope.  The future is bright for our student-athletes, and we will be with them every step of the way.

With all of this being said, we love what we do.  For administrators and coaches, that is helping young men and women be successful on and off the field or court.  We, as a Conference, have come very far, and will continue to go further.  These times will help us grow and become stronger, as individuals, and a collective group.  Sports gives us a chance to really see and understand who we are and what we are capable of.  Because of this, we know we will get through this.  Because WE ARE THE ACCC.  WE ARE FAM1LY.

Stay strong, positive and healthy.
