Khadijah Torbert joins ACCC Staff

Khadijah Torbert joined the Alabama Community College Conference staff in January of 2021, and will serve as Director of Communications and Sports Information and will serve as the main contact for both.

As a multi-skilled communicator in broadcast news and sports business, Torbert graduated Cum Laude from Troy University in 2016, where she double majored in Broadcast Journalism and Business Administration. She obtained her Master's Degree in Sports Business Management from the University of Alabama in May of 2019.

While at Alabama, Torbert served as an intern and staff assistant in the Athletic Communications Department, working primarily with the volleyball, soccer, and football programs. There, she handled media relations responsibilities for the Crimson Tide where she became familiar with responsibilities in various departments, including human resources, development, compliance, marketing, social media, sports information and ticketing.

Prior to making her way to Tuscaloosa, she was a news producer and sideline sports reporter at WKRG News 5 in Mobile, Alabama for two years. Before joining their news team, she held an internship with WFLA News 8 in Tampa, Florida.

During Torbert's undergraduate studies at Troy, she had the pleasure of being the primary sports reporter for TrojanVision News, where she interviewed student-athletes and coaches with the responsibility of showcasing their personalities, as well as their GameDay activities.

"I cannot wait to be a part of the ACCC family and get to know each player and tell their stories. I am looking forward to learning each school's program and working towards efforts to continue their success. I am most eager to grow the ACCC's presence online and through media outlets."

Torbert is also active in the community, and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and the National Association of Black Journalist (NABJ).

In her spare time, she loves traveling, checking out new restaurants, journaling and spending time with her family and friends.

"I am very excited to add Khadijah to our staff", stated Commissioner Dean Myrick. "To find someone of her skill set will only benefit our members and Conference.  There are many great success stories in two-year college athletics in Alabama, and Khadijah will help us tell those stories.  As our Conference continues to grow and excel, the future is indeed bright and exciting."
