Lady Parsons Capture 2014 ACCC Women’s Tennis Title

Decatur, AL – The Snead State Community College Lady Parsons captured the 2014 ACCC Women's Tennis Title this past weekend, winning eight of the nine championship matches. In singles play, five of the six matches were won by Snead State. Rachel Farmer claimed the #2 singles title, defeating Lydia Carter from Marion Military Institute after Carter retired in the first set.  Lucy Bradley defeated Victoria Jones from MMI (6-1, 6-0) in #3 singles.  In the #4 singles match, Sidney Garner defeated Danielle Clark from Faulkner State Community College 6-0, 6-3.  Amanda Bertoldi (#5 singles) and Courtney Moore (#6 singles) also claimed victories with scores of 6-1, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-4, respectively.

SSCC swept doubles play, claiming all three championship matches.  In the third flight, Amanda Bertoldi/Mary Evelyn Owens defeated Jasmin James/Jameka James from Faulkner State CC 6-4, 6-0.  Rachel Farmer/Sidney Garner defeated Meredith Gwin/Danielle Clark from Faulkner State CC in the second flight, 6-1, 6-2.  The closest match came in #1 doubles when Samantha Dooley/Lucy Bradley outlasted Maria Cespedes/Lydia Carter from MMI in a hard-fought three set match (4-6, 7-6, 12-10).
