Bevill State appoints Beaty as Head Volleyball Coach

FAYETTE, AL – Bevill State Community College (BSCC) is excited to announce the appointment of Saige Beaty as the new Head Coach of the Women's Volleyball Team. During his 21-year tenure as a coach, Beaty has made six appearances at the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) State Tournament for volleyball, with two State Runner-Up seasons (2018/2020). He was the Eagle Elite Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2007, 2008, 2016, and 2020. He was also selected as Basketball Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2007. The Bevill State Volleyball Program is located on the College's Fayette Campus. 

Beaty is a 1995 graduate of Dora High School. During high school, he played football (All-County, All-Area 1994/1995), basketball (All-County, All-Area 1994/1995, All-Region 1995), and baseball (All-County, All-Area 1994/1995, East-West All-Star Selection 1995). Beaty signed to play baseball at the University of Montevallo out of high school. He then transferred to Bevill State Community College to play baseball and basketball. He played on the 1997-98 BSCC Basketball Team that won Region and finished third in the National Tournament. 

Saige Beaty and his wife, Meagan, have two children, Brynlee (7) and Dax (3). He graduated from the University of West Alabama in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in Biology, a master's degree in Education Administration in 2004, and his Ed.S. in 2012. Beaty is currently the Assistant Principal at Curry High School. 

Bevill State Athletic Director, Max Weaver, stated, "I believe that Coach Beaty brings a high level of experience, dedication, and enthusiasm to Bevill State Volleyball. He has a strong commitment to the success of our team, and he has the coaching acumen and knowledge to make that success a reality. I look forward to an exciting season of Lady Bears' volleyball under his leadership!"

We will be looking for student-athletes that will be representing Bevill State and the Fayette community with high standards both academically and athletically. I hope each player will have the same positive experience I had at Bevill State - Fayette and these experiences will help guide them through the next chapters of their lives.," said the new Bevill State Volleyball coach, Saige Beaty.

His experience as an athlete, educator, and coach will serve the team well when recruiting new players for the team," BSCC President, Dr. Joel Hagood, said.
